In one of my
previous posts, I spoke of new luxury lamps, made of beautiful hardwoods, that we would be introducing soon. Well soon is almost here! I spent a lot of time today getting the main components ready to turn into
lamps. The process of making them is pretty cool and I wanted to share. I also wanted to share because a lot of heart and soul go into making these lamps and it's not always easy to see how much work goes into something handmade when you are only looking at the final product. The finished product will be a large, 7"x14"
hurricane pedestal lamp, which will be really beautifully made with high quality hardwoods. Here are some photos of me making some of our first round bases (please excuse the low quality iphone pictures!).
Here are the large blocks we glue up and start with: Top Walnut, middle salvaged Oak and bottom Sapele.

We turn them on the Lathe:
And finish with this:
The final product will be revealed really soon. I hope I have peaked your interest! I am really excited about these lamps and can't wait to introduce them to you!
